We are. We don’t know whether Global Warming is real, let’s face it, scientific opinion is as changeable as the weather. Maybe it’s because we live in beautiful Grasmere but we had a think about it and decided that throwing less away and being more selective about where things come from makes sense anyway. These are only small things but if we all do a little bit it might make a lot of difference.
English Lakes Perfumery
When we acquired English Lakes Perfumery & brought the fragrances back to Grasmere we also had to learn about the things that go into bath, body & skin care. Some of them are very harsh and the production of others impacts on the environment. We decided to use our knowledge to create an eco friendly Bath & Body Care range for Men & Women using natural ingredients from ethical, sustainable sources. The Pure Lakes Range was born. We are so proud of our formulas that we provide an ingredient list for every item in our natural range & a Glossary so you can look up any unfamiliar terms. The really good news is that, by careful buying, 95% of the oils we use are now certified organic without increasing our prices.

Here is Sandra at our stall at the recent Kirkby Lonsdale Victorian Market. It takes place at the beginning of September and what a great weekend it was. Everyone gets dressed up (even Queen Victoria & Mister Brown made an appearance!), there was superb street entertainment, plenty of good traditional food and, of course, excellent stalls selling local products including our own. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town just off J36 of the M6 and this weekend is well worth attending.
Since our first major festival at Holker Hall in June we have had a lot of interest in our products. Comments like 'The creams sink into the skin so well you can tell the ingredients are natural' are becoming more commonplace and more people are looking out for us at the shows.
