Regenerative Communities
At Pure Lakes, we are purpose-driven, and creating well-paid jobs that help regenerate our local economy is at the heart of what we do. In a region where high housing costs and a lack of employment opportunities make it difficult for young families to stay, we are committed to building a thriving, sustainable future.
Our commitment to sustainability runs through every aspect of our operations. Our solar panels, installed in late 2024, have already reduced our reliance on fossil fuels by 70-80%, and with battery storage planned, we aim to reach full energy self-sufficiency. Our water filtration system will soon enable us to use local water in all our manufacturing processes, reinforcing our dedication to responsible resource use.
We take a circular economy approach to packaging, offering a sophisticated refill service to ensure materials are reused wherever possible. All our ingredients are biodegradable, and both our packaging and ingredients are ethically sourced. By working with Rinaldo’s Coffee, we provide a click & collect service for local customers using our refill scheme, and we collaborate with them and with Ginger Bakers and Grasmere Gingerbread to enhance our visitor experience.

Beyond our own sustainability efforts, we actively support low-impact tourism, working with Windermere Lake Cruises and Mountain Goat to promote the use of the passenger ferry, reducing car travel and increasing eco-friendly visits.
We also believe in fostering a strong community. We regularly host local groups, charities, schools, and the Women’s Institute, offering our space as a hub for connection and learning.
Our landscape reflects our love for nature—our wildflower garden, planted in August 2024 using reclaimed materials, provides a habitat for the wild deer, hares, rabbits, and other wildlife that live at our doorstep.
At Pure Lakes, regeneration isn’t just about sustaining the present—it’s about creating a better future for both people and the planet.
