Skincare Guide
Everyone's skin is different and the below is only a guide.
Please 'listen' to your own skin. It can change with the weather. For example, it can be normal or combination in the warmer months and dry when the seasons turn cold.
All our skincare is formulated for sensitive skin and thus, the key consideration is how dry or oily it might be.
Our products contain beneficial skincare ingredients, in addition to beautiful smelling and therapeutically beneficial essential oils. Remember there are no synthetic ingredients in any Pure Lakes products.
We guarantee our products - if something is not working for you please return it and either try something else free of charge, or receive a full refund.
We sometimes get asked for our favourites and for Claire it is the Rosehip Seed Soap-Free Cleanser, Neroli Facial Hydration Cream (colder months) or Geranium, Lavender & Ylang Ylang Cream (warmer months....a lighter cream for when the weather improves) and last thing at night one of our amazing face oils (they are all great and are suitable for ALL skin types, even very oily skin).
Soap Free is good for dry skin or for skin without heavy make-up; Foaming works well for skin that needs a bit more, for example make-up or residue build-up.
The Rosehip Seed blend is best for combination to dry and the Aloe Vera, Frankincense & Tea Tree for oilier skin.
Facial Hydration Gels & Creams
Geranium, Lavender & Ylang Ylang Gel and Aloe Vera, Tea Tree & Frankincense Gels work well for Combination and Oily skin respectively.
Geranium, Lavender & Ylang Ylang Cream works best for combination skin. It is a light weight, very easily absorbed cream.
Neroli, Rosehip & Frankincense and Rose, Jojoba & Frankincense Creams are easily absorbed heavier creams and are perfect for dry or mature skin.
The Rose & Neroli oils have a greater concentration of nature's version of retinol, Rosehip Seed Oil but the Rosehip, Kiwi Seed & Camellia Oil has a wider variety of very beneficial plant oils.
The exfoliators contain natural exfoliating Jojoba beads and should be used once or maybe twice a week for a deep facial exfoliation.
The Rose & Chamomile Eye Gel is a gentle gel that is both calming and moisturising for the delicate skin surrounding the eyes.
There are many wonderful plant oils in our skincare but common to them all are some very powerful, high quality oils that include:
- Frankincense - thought to have cytophylactic properties, meaning that it stimulates cell regeneration leading to an anti-wrinkle effect on the skin, as well as anti-inflammatory properties.
- Rosehip Seed Oil - a natural version of retinol and form of Vitamin A, believed to help protect the skin from free radicals and repair damaged cells. Furthermore, it is thought to reduce damage from the environment and speed up the body’s natural healing time.
- Hyaluronic Acid - a natural ingredient that is found in the skin. It creates a barrier to help the skin retain moisture. Essentially, it works as a magnet for moisture, helping the skin cells retain as much of it as possible so that it feels and appears hydrated.
